Wait...WHAT?

An East Boston woman was approached at the airport in Mexico and was offered $300 (US) to bring a suitcase full of presents back to the states.  She was told that a family member named Juan would find her at the Boston Airport and retrieve the gifts from her.

Passengers began to complain shortly after take off about a foul odor emitting from the suitcase.  The woman (now referred to as 'the accused') opened the suitcase to find 20 soiled diapers...and 12 one pound bags of pure cocaine wrapped inside.

The 'accused' said she had no idea she was being used as a mule.

Yes, if I were approached in Mexico by a stranger with a stinky suitcase and paid $300 cash to take it into the U.S. to meet Juan, I too, would be shocked and surprised.

Turn a chore into Family Time!

My Husband won't buy me another paper shredder.  He hasn't actually admitted that, but he won't.  I have broken 3 shredders...usually within  six months of purchase.  I don't have the time or patience to use one.  I save all receipts and bills for about six months (tax records are kept FOREVER....just a reminder.)  That makes up a lot of paper that I don't feel comfortable about tossing in the garbage.

Every once in a while we have a Burn Party.  With the warmer days and cool nights, this is perfect weather to use our fire bowl on our patio.  My Husband starts a small wood fire and we take all the personal paperwork outside and toss it (a little at a time!) into the fire bowl.  The kids and their friends will roast marshmallows and usually help burn the papers with us.  It just gives us some family time without TV's or computers, plus we take care of a necessary chore.

Just make sure you are careful and keep small children and pets away from the fire!

I can't remember to floss, drink my Bragg's organic vinegar or find 15 minutes to exercise, but I somehow always remember to drink my 'medicinal' glass of red wine and eat my dark chocolate!

Priorities, people....priorities!

Wait...WHAT?

TMZ reports that two bodyguards are protecting a few locks of hair enclosed in a glass case.  No, it doesn't belong to Rapunzel....that would make sense.  The hair is the 'droppings' of the latest Justin Bieber haircut.  I suppose this was a big deal because it changed the course of hair history - "The Bieber" is no more.  Millions of teenage boys are running around like Bieber with his hair cut off  wondering what to do!

These clippings sold at a special auction for $40k during a special charity bid on eBay a few days ago ... and now the hair is making appearances around the country, where it poses with Bieber fans.  Fanatics, I mean fans, must make a donation to the tsunami relief effort in Japan before they can get near the lovely locks.

How does that saying go? ...at least it's for charity.....?

For a peak at the hair - scroll down - but you have to send me $5 first....

Who Knew?

I couldn't have explained it better myself....

"Well you see, Norm, it's like this...A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo.  And when the heard is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first.  This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.  In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.  Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills bran cells.  But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.  In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.  And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

Paper, Paper, Paper!!

Sometimes I think I am drowning in Paper!  Bills, coupons, sales flyers, junk mail, newspapers, magazines  - UGH!  I usually stack it on the right side of my desk for when 'I can get to it'.....and that is usually when it all falls off the desk into the floor because it's stacked so high!

I have recently started a new practice that I hope will turn into a good habit.  I go outside to get the mail and then stand by my recycling bin outside and open the mail.  Sales catalogs get tossed immediately - if I don't see something I want I don't buy it ---if I don't look - I don't want.  I tear up all junk mail and in the recycle bin it goes.  I open the bills and keep the stuff I need and the rest gets ripped and recycled. (I do keep the return envelopes - I'll tell you what I do with those on another day!)

This entire process takes about one minute of my time.  That's a ton better than letting it stack up on my desk and irritate the heck out of me!

Back when my Hubby was just my boyfriend, we had an evening out planned and my Mom was over to babysit my girls.  It was a cold and rainy night, so when Gary arrived, he was dressed in a suit but had a long trench coat over it.

Little Sammi ran to the door to greet him, and then turned to my Mother and quickly explained "It's ok if men wear dresses too...."!

(I don't think she was so sure about that!)
