Ken turns 50 today!! Ken, Barbie's counterpart, was created in 1961. Barbie was created two years earlier in 1959. The story is that Barbie and Ken met on the set of a television commercial in 1961. They were a couple until their highly publicized break-up in 2004. Both stayed silent on the cause of the split, but it was rumored to be due to Ken's reluctance to get married. In 2006, a 'revamped' version of Ken was launched and it appears that the two are back together again. (Revamped? Plastic surgery maybe??)
