Victoria's Secret was created by a man! Roy Raymond, embarrassed by trying to purchase lingerie for his wife in a Department Store environment, opened a lingerie wear store in Palo Alto, CA. He soon followed with three other stores and a mail order catalog.
The store was designed to make men more comfortable while shopping there with wood paneled walls, Victorian details and helpful sales associates. The bras and panties matched up and mounted on wall frames. This way the gentlemen could easily select coordinating lingerie.
