We were watching Grease the other night and I commented on how old the characters looked - all supposedly teenagers. At least they were consistent, though....everyone looked older than a teen, so it all seemed to make sense somehow.
I ran across an article today and I was totally shocked - Stockard Channing (Rizzo) was actually 34 years old when she performed in Grease!! 34! She was portraying an 18 year old. Did you know that our beloved Olivia Newton John was nearly 30 when she played Sandy?
And what about Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future III - Onscreen age of 17 - Real age of 29! Alan Ruck (Cameron - Ferris Bueller's Day Off) was also 29 playing a 17 year old. Kevin Bacon was 26 when he played the 18 year old Ren in Footloose. These guys make Ralph Machio really seem young when at age 23 he portrayed The Karate Kid (Daniel - age 16).
